Wireline
Drilling Fluids & Logging
Wireline refers to the cabling technology used to lower equipment or measurement tools into the wellbore. Electric wireline consists of a braided steel cable with an electrical conductor core, allowing for two-way data transmission and power delivery to downhole tools, such as logging sondes or perforating guns.
Wireline operations are distinct from slickline (which has no conductor) and are critical for formation evaluation, well intervention, and pipe recovery operations (like free-point indicators). The wireline unit on surface consists of a winch drum, depth measurement wheels, and a computer system to record the downhole data.
