Valve station

A valve station (or block valve station) is a facility located at intervals along a pipeline containing isolation valves. In the event of a rupture or leak, these valves can be closed (often remotely via SCADA) to isolate the damaged section and limit the volume of product released.

Regulations specify the maximum spacing between stations depending on the population density (Class Location) of the area the pipeline traverses.
