Separator internals

Separator internals refer to the mechanical components inside a separator vessel that enhance separation efficiency. Key internals include the 'Inlet Diverter' (dissipates momentum of incoming fluid), 'Weir Plates' (control liquid levels), and 'Mist Extractors' (wire mesh pads that catch liquid droplets in the gas stream).

Damaged or plugged internals are a common cause of 'carryover' (liquid in gas line) or 'carryunder' (gas in oil line), leading to operational upsets.
