Rheometer

See **Viscometer**. A rheometer is the more technical term for the device used to measure the flow of matter (rheology). In oilfield context, it specifically refers to the rotational viscometers used to model Non-Newtonian fluid behavior.

Understanding rheology allows engineers to model hole cleaning efficiency and surge/swab pressures during tripping.
