Radiographic testing

Radiographic Testing (RT) involves using X-rays or Gamma rays to view the internal structure of a component. In the oilfield, it is the 'gold standard' for verifying pipeline weld quality.

Radiation passes through the weld and exposes a film (or digital detector) on the opposite side. Defects like slag inclusions, porosity, or lack of fusion show up as dark spots (less density) on the image. Strict exclusion zones are required during testing due to radiation hazard.
