Pressure testing
Cementing & Well Integrity
Pressure testing involves applying hydraulic pressure to a vessel, pipe, or wellbore component to verify its integrity and ability to hold pressure without leaking. In well construction, this is mandatory for BOPs, casing strings, and cement jobs before proceeding to the next operational phase.
A typical test involves pumping fluid to a specified test pressure and monitoring a chart recorder for any decline over a set time period. Passing a pressure test confirms the barrier envelope is intact; failure indicates a leak path that must be located and remediated immediately.
