Plug-and-perf

Plug-and-perf is the most common completion technique for unconventionals. It involves running a wireline gun string to set a frac plug (isolating the previous stage) and then firing perforation guns to create entry holes for the next stage.

While more time-consuming than ball-drop (due to the wireline run), it offers greater flexibility in placement and number of clusters per stage, allowing for better reservoir coverage.
