Pig trap

A pig trap is the generic term for both pig launchers and receivers. In a production field context, it usually refers to the receiver at the inlet of the central facility where flowlines terminate.

It catches the cleaning pig sent from the wellhead. Safety interlocks are critical to ensure the trap is depressurized before the door is opened to retrieve the pig and the sludge it pushed in.
