Mud mixer

The mud mixer (or mixing hopper) is a venture-jet device used to add dry chemicals (sacks of bentonite, barite, polymers) into the liquid mud system. High-velocity fluid creates a vacuum that sucks the powder into the stream, ensuring rapid hydration and dispersion without clumps ('fish eyes').

Efficient mixing is crucial when building volume quickly or weighting up the system during a well control event.
