Mud heater

A mud heater is used in cold environments or when using oil-based mud (OBM) to maintain fluid viscosity. OBM can become extremely viscous at low temperatures, making it difficult to screen and pump.

Steam or electric heaters are placed in the mud tanks or suction lines to ensure the fluid remains pumpable and that the chemicals/additives function correctly.
