MODU

A MODU (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit) is a vessel or structure designed for offshore drilling operations, primarily for exploring or extracting resources beneath the seabed, such as oil and gas. These units can be either floating or supported by the seabed. Types of MODUs: - Jack-Up Rigs – These rigs have legs that can be lowered to the seabed, lifting the platform above the water surface for stability. - Semi-Submersible Rigs – Floating units with submerged pontoons for stability, often used in deeper waters. - Drillships – Ships equipped with drilling equipment, capable of operating in ultra-deepwater locations. - Tender-Assisted Drilling (TAD) Units – Support vessels that assist fixed platforms with drilling operations. Each type is designed to meet specific operational, environmental, and safety requirements
