Master bushing

The master bushing is a heavy steel insert that fits into the rotary table. It provides the interface for different inserts, such as the kelly bushing (for drilling) or slip bowls (for setting pipe). It handles the full torque of the rotary table and the weight of the slips.

Master bushings come in split (two-piece) or solid designs. For large diameter pipe or casing, the master bushing can be removed to open up the full bore of the rotary table.
