LWD

Logging While Drilling (LWD) involves placing formation evaluation tools directly into the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) to record petrophysical data as the well is being drilled. This effectively allows operators to obtain 'wireline-quality' logs in real-time or recorded memory without the need for a separate wireline run.

LWD is particularly valuable in high-angle or horizontal wells where gravity makes running conventional wireline tools difficult or risky. It enables 'geosteering,' where geologists use real-time Gamma Ray or Resistivity images to keep the bit within the most productive, thin reservoir zones.
