Hydrotreater

Hydrotreating is a catalytic process used to remove impurities like sulfur (desulfurization), nitrogen, and metals from petroleum fractions. Hydrogen gas is reacted with the feed at high temperature and pressure.

This is essential for producing cleaner-burning fuels (like Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel, ULSD) to meet environmental regulations and to protect downstream catalysts (like in reformers) that would be poisoned by sulfur.
