Gas lift valve

A gas lift valve is a flow-control device installed in the side-pocket mandrels of the production tubing. It allows high-pressure gas injected down the annulus to enter the tubing at specific depths.

By aerating the fluid column, the gas reduces the density of the liquid, lowering the bottomhole flowing pressure and allowing the reservoir to produce at higher rates. It is one of the most robust forms of artificial lift, mimicking a natural flowing well.
