Fall protection
Safety Equipment & Procedures
Fall protection refers to the systems used to prevent workers from falling from heights or to arrest a fall if it occurs. In the oilfield (derricks, tank batteries), 100% tie-off is mandatory above certain heights.
Components include full-body harnesses, shock-absorbing lanyards, and secure anchor points. Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRLs) are common on drilling rigs to allow derrickmen vertical mobility while remaining protected.
