Density tool

A Density tool (Litho-Density) uses a radioactive source (Cesium-137) to emit gamma rays into the formation. The scattering of these gamma rays is related to the electron density of the rock, which converts directly to bulk density.

This bulk density is used to calculate porosity. It also provides a Photoelectric Factor (PEF) curve, which is excellent for identifying lithology (sandstone vs. limestone vs. dolomite).
