Coiled tubing

Coiled tubing (CT) is a long, continuous length of flexible steel pipe wound on a large reel. It can be run into a live well (under pressure) without having to make connections, making it faster and safer than using jointed pipe for many intervention tasks.

CT is used for a wide variety of operations, including wellbore cleanouts (circulating out sand), acid stimulation (pumping acid to the bottom), velocity strings, and fishing. The CT unit includes an injector head that pushes the pipe into the well against wellbore pressure.
