Chemical additive unit

The chemical additive unit (or liquid add system) consists of storage tanks and precision metering pumps mounted on a truck. It injects small volumes of specialized chemicals (friction reducers, biocides, crosslinkers, breakers) directly into the discharge manifold or hydration unit.

Precise dosing is vital; for example, too much breaker can screen out the well, while too little can permanently damage the conductivity of the proppant pack.
