Bridge plug
Cementing & Well Integrity
A bridge plug is a downhole tool used to permanently or temporarily isolate the lower part of a wellbore. Unlike a retainer, it does not have a valve for pumping through; it is a solid plug.
Plugs are set to isolate old depleted zones before perforating new ones above, or for well abandonment. They can be drillable (cast iron/composite) or retrievable, depending on future plans for the well.
