Annular Velocity

Speed at which fluid moves up the annulus. Commonly used in Drilling to describe the speed at which drilling fluid is pumped out of hole. The annular velocity of the mud is critical for hole cleaning as the mud is required to move faster than the drilled cuttings sinking rate (sometimes known as V Slip) ensure the cuttings are transported out of the hole.
